Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club Under 15's v Rayleigh Fairview on Mon 08 Jun 2009 at 1800
Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club Lost by 67 runs
Match report
Why is it always so cold for u15 games at Langdon Hills?
Rayleigh Fairview came here looking to consolodate their place at the top of the league and extend their unbeaten start to the season. They got off to a steady start before losing their openers to the bowling of Dean Parkinson and Mark Williams and were 35 for 2 after 5 overs. After this they began to set about our bowling attack racking up 71 runs for the third wicket and at one point looked as though they might post a score in excess of 180. However a fine spell by Adam Frost (3 for 25) ably assisted by Matt Campbell who bagged a brace restricted the visitors to 156 for 9 off their 20 overs.
Set an unlikely 157 to win our reply started badly when Connor McLeod gave a return catch off the first ball and skipper Dean Parkinson was run out in the first over. Visibly shaken James Hogan batted sensibly despite being hit scoring 8. Dylan Jones was connecting well hitting one of the biggest sixes I have seen on this ground before being caught going for a similar shot. Our man of the match, adam Frost hit a quick fire 11 before being bowled. Wickets then tumbled as first Ben Morris and then Joe Holmes both went for ducks but a rearguard action bt Daniel Tarrant (18 not out) and Ryan Seagroatt 14 gave some respectability to the score. The first ball dismissal of Mark Williams saw Matt Campbell come to the crease and he shared a brief last wicket stand of 10 with Dan Tarrant before being bowled off the fourth ball of the 16th over.
