Time based matches
Applies to matches denoted as "time and overs" in 1st XI; all 2nd, 3rd and 4th XI matches.
a. All time based format matches in the 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and 4th XI Divisions will commence at 1pm.
b. All time based format matches shall be completed within 6 hours of the scheduled time of start (set out in 1a above), inclusive of tea intervals, except where 20 overs have not yet been bowled in the last hour of play, when the “Overs” rule as set out in 1c shall operate.
c. In time based format matches the umpires shall indicate when one hour of playing time remains. From that time, provided a result is not reached earlier, the game will continue for a minimum of 20 overs. The overs bowled shall be Indicated in ascending order after each over has been bowled. In the event of play being interrupted (including intervals or stoppage for rain, bad light, etc) the number of overs to be bowled shall be reduced in proportion to the time lost in the ratio of one over for every three minutes lost.
d. Where there are no panel umpires officiating, captains of both sides must agree on whether to continue, or resume play, in adverse conditions of ground, weather or light, If the captains disagree then play will be suspended if currently in progress, or not restart if the players are off the field, until and if conditions improve and the captains agree.
Points will be awarded on the following basis:
a. for the winning team batting first 25.
b. for the winning team batting second 20.
c. for a Tie each side 3 plus bonus points.
d. for a Draw each side 0.
e. for the Losing side 0.
f. for a Cancelled Match 6.
g. for an Abandoned Match (a match where the side batting second has received less than 25 overs) each side 6.
h. for an Abandoned Match (where the side batting second has received 25 or more overs) each side 6 plus any bonus points in excess of 6 gained at the time of abandonment (but see j below).
i. Bonus points will be awarded as follows
a. Bowling side: 1 point awarded at 3, 5, 7 and 9 wickets.
b. Batting side for the side batting first: 2 points up to a maximum of 8 points awarded at 125, 150, 175 and 200 runs.
c Batting side for the side batting second: 1 point up to a maximum of 4 point awarded at 125, 150, 175 and 200 runs.
d. In the First Innings the batting side will forfeit its Batting Bonus Points if the innings lasts longer than 52 overs.
e. Where the start of a game is delayed by more than 90 minutes the batting points are only available in the first 35 overs of the first innings. The side batting first will forfeit its batting points if the innings lasts longer than 35 overs.
j. In a match adversely affected by conditions of ground, weather or light, and where a positive result is not obtained:
i. If the last over due in the match has been bowled (regardless of any overs that may have been lost for previous interruptions), then the result will be a draw with bonus points, if applicable, in accordance with the match rules set out above.
ii. If the last over due in the match has not been bowled:
a. If the side batting second has received less than 25 completed overs, then the match is classified as Abandoned and each side receives 6 points for an abandoned match and no bonus points are applicable.
b. If the side batting second has received 25 or more overs, then the match is classified as Abandoned and each side receives 6 points plus any bonus points awarded in excess of 6 points at the time of abandonment.
k. In all 1st XI games slow over rate penalties will apply for sides bowling less than 17 overs per hour. For example: 16 overs per hour - 1 point penalty, 15 overs per hour — 2 points penalty etc. Sides will be informed by the umpires of slow over rates during the innings and the over rate shall be calculated across the whole innings. Time allowances can be granted for lost balls and injuries etc. and confirmed to the fielding captain at the time of the delay. Umpires must advise both captains of any points deductions at the end of the game. These must be shown on the results sheet and the appropriate number to be deducted from those claimed.
l. The Executive Committee are empowered to award and/or deduct points in instances of default.
