Rayleigh Fairview v Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club Under 15's on Thu 31 Jul 2008 at 1800 week commencing
Basildon & Pitsea Cricket Club Lost 21 runs

Match report An overcast and very humid evening with intermittant showers.

Rayleigh Fairview got off to a flying start scoring 105 without loss from the first 12 overs. This total would have been considerably lower had our selected wicket keeper bothered to turn up. Jack Plane volunteered to don the gloves but often found it difficult to stop the pace of Ben Munday Dean Parkinson and Sam Cordell A total of 24 byes were conceded in their innings which would ultimately be our undoing. Wickets started to fall with the introduction of Ryan Seagroatt (3-1-13-3) and Mark Williams who had career best figures of 4-2-4-5. we managed to restrict RF to 134 - 8 from thier 20 overs but this would still be a tough total to chase down.

Joe Holmes went cheaply after hitting a good looking boundary and sam Ward soon followed when he was contraversially given out caught behind for 1. Jack Plane played a steady and at times stylish innings posting his seasons best of 25 whilst at the other end ben Munday cracked his way to 26 beofre being caught. At 79-4 after 12 we were still in with a chance of victory, albeit slim but when Anthony Burridge was run out for 0 the writing was on the wall. We eventually ended up on 113-7 just 21 runs short, or the amount of byes that an expierienced wicket keeper may have saved!
