Match report A red hot sunny day and an end of season atmosphere. Frank McLeod was quieter than usual, very worrying.

We were never in this game from ball 1. We were outplayed in all departments and deservedly got a good hiding. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say you were beaten by the better side and this was certainly the case today but I felt that were were totally unbothered by the way were outplayed. The visitors were well organised and arrived on time. Unlike several of our team who only managed to turn up minutes before the start which makes any attempt at a team talk rushed and in effective. Stanfords top 4 all scored 25+ by playing sensibly and taking advantage of some average bowling. At one point they looked certain to post a score of around 200. Eventually they were restricted to 138 for 4 but I knew then that this would be an impossible target to chase down. I was however disappointed at our effort slumping to 17-5 after 10 overs (in comparison the visitors were 94 without loss at the same point). The Stanford manager (in an effort to make a game of it) put on their spinners and novice bowlers (embarassing but done with good intentions).

At the end of the day 2 wins from 11 games this season is not a good return. As manager I accept my share of the blame and will be examining my own methods and suggesting to the youth management some ways in which things can be improved next season.
