Covers were on when I arrived, had been on since 6.30, 7, 9 or 10 - depending on which version of Skips story you believe. Harlow won the toss & decided to bat. Showery day, game eventually kicked off half an hour late at 1.30.

Proceedings as usual, Brown & Mr Lewis opening with 2 maidens each. The rain brought a halt to the proceedings in the 7th over at 1.49. After play resumed at 2.39 it wasn't until the 31st over that the captain showed the way, taking the wicket of their number 2 (71 for 1).
Asif also started with 2 maidens but took a while to to get going - he eventually took 2 wickets in his 14th over, one in his 15th and one in his 16th (was really 2 but run outs don't count if you're a bowler).
Ended with 16-2-55-4, including a caught & bowled, the best of our bowlers on the day.

Some atrocious fielding (yeah, yeah, the ball was wet) meant we didn't get them out, but managed to keep the score down to 180-8 (including 8 byes - gloves were wet too). It was almost 5 to 5 by this time which meant we wouldn't get our 52 overs in reply, I don't know why the regs don't take stoppages into account, seems daft to me.

Tea came & went, as it does, and we opened with Mike (Blerkom) & Kiran at 5.15. It rained, on and off, but not enough to stop the game. We didn't start too well, losing our first wicket for 17. But Kiran batted through and was our top scorer with 79 not out, ending the game in style with a 4.

Took just 31 overs to reach 182 for the loss of 5 wickets. The other batsmen to reach double figures were Tanvir - 28, Joe - 24 and Lee (Stace) - 19.

Harlow got 8 points so we were both better off than having the game abandoned.

One of the Harlow lads was playing his 1000th game for the club and was
presented with something or other at half time. And their captain bought a jug of lager for our team after the game - damn nice of him!
