13 Apr 2017 : AVAILABILITY

Thank you for those who have updated their availability on the website already but if you are yet to do so, please can you ensure that you have updated your availability for the forthcoming season.

This is vital to the captains when selecting their team and as we are fielding four teams each week this season, it is important that this is done sooner rather than later.

In case you are unsure on how to update your availability, you'll need to log in to the website in order to do so. After logging on to the website, match availability can be found within the 'My Profile' section.

If you require any assistance or help with this, please get in touch or contact any of the captains.

Many Thanks

Think you can do better than the selection committee? Here is your chance to prove them wrong; with the launch of the BPCC Fantasy Cricket League.

Points are awarded for runs, wickets, catches and deducted for the dreaded ducks and 0-fers.  With a £55m budget money is tight, but assemble a squad that sees you through to glory.

Prize fund will be announced after the first league game of the season, when we know who has entered.

Good luck

As members will know, the club has, for a number of years, wanted to modernise our clubhouse at Mopsies, to increase the space for our members for both playing and social areas.

The club has appointed a sub-committee for this purpose, as we look to push this dream into being a reality.  The sub-committee is headed up by our former Chairman Paul Ayres, and he is joined by Paul Singleton, Steve Bonnett, Dan Bedford, Gary Ayres, Michael Gray, Kathy Ayres and Stewart Vickers; a good mix of people with building expertise and people also aware of the traditions of the club.

The sub-committee will be working alongside the main committee to deliver the clubhouse extension that we believe is the best way forward for the club and Mopsies.

To this end, there will be a number of social and fund raising activities which will be advertised on the club website and social media pages; please try your hardest to come along, enjoy the events and help contribute towards the new clubhouse.  Your help and support will be key to us delivering this project.

We have created a new page on the club website, called Clubhouse Renovation, where we will keep members up to speed on the fund raising and building activities.

Finally, Paul and his team have started the project today, by starting works on the current clubhouse, working towards an updated club area, refreshed changing rooms and also some minor structural works to put the current building in good stead for the extensions.  We are aiming to have the clubhouse re-opening on the President's Day (Saturday May 6th); we look forward to be able to welcome you all on the day. In the meantime, the clubhouse will be out of action until the works have completed.

Keep an eye on the update page, updates will be posted regularly !!

13 Jan 2017 : 3rd and 4th XI HOME GROUND FOR 2017

As you may have become aware, there have been changes to the facilities at Laindon Rec, which, after a great deal of thought and discussion by the Committee with the Council led to the conclusion that it would not be beneficial for the club to continue to use Laindon Rec for our 3rd and 4th XI home matches.

So, after over 20 years of calling Laindon Rec our home, we have had to take the decision to move our 3rd and 4th XI home matches to Holy Cross Recreation Ground for the 2017 season.

Holy Cross is situated off of Great Spenders, in the Fryerns area of Basildon. Further details on how to access the site for all members will be published soon.

We look forward to the 2017 season at Holy Cross for our 3rd and 4th XIs.

The club now has its own betting service, through My Club Betting. The service is the same as any other online betting service, however the club will receive a percentage of all the profits from the site back into the club's Funds. We also are able to benefit from free kit and equipment the more people that sign up.

At the time of writing, the club is owed in excess of £1,000 from our members for either outstanding match fees or membership subscriptions.  Those with outstanding balances will be contacted via email to discuss ways of paying. Please help the club by settling all balances asap.  Thanks

I would like to congratulate the Club on its outstanding year. The positions in the League, probably the best in our history, were due mainly to the captaincy of each team.. in sometimes difficult circumstanes. To Michael well done for getting promotion, To Luke 3rd is not too bad, Phil great work with the strength of some of your teams and to Lee great work in you endeavours to hold the 4th X1 together and to ensure those that played for you were brought into the game. Bob
