Horndon on the Hill v BASILDON & PITSEA CRICKET CLUB Under 13 XI on Sun 13 Jul 2008 at 0930
BASILDON & PITSEA CRICKET CLUB Lost 7 runs
Grey overcast and thoroughly miserable. No not the weather but our scorer from NZ Frank McLeod. Only kidding Frank, we kept the coffee flowing this week so at least you were quiet!
This was by far the best the u13 have played this season.
After restricting the home side to 99 with some good steady bowling and fielding (well done Robert Morden and James Hogan). Cameron Davies replaced Dan Tarrant behind the sticks after 12 ovs and did a good job. The late (unavoidable) arrival of our usual opening bowler (Adam Frost) meant that Perry Barnes had to step in and he put in a steady performance.
Our innings got off to a solid albiet slowish start with Connor (10) and Yash (12) putting on 22 for the first wicket. Connor was out trying to up the run rate and a good performance from Adam Frost (15) kept things interesting. Dan tarrant dropped down the order to 5 and hit an unbeaten 25. We were always slightly off the pace and needed 15 to win from the last over. Despite the best endeavours of Charlie Murdoch (6) Jack Farrington (7 no) and Matt Campbell (4no) we fell 7 runs short of our goal.
Man of the match: Umpire Neil Wiliams, did not get a decision wrong and was clear and concise with his calls to the scorers well done hime!
