A lovely day for cricket, not too warm with sunny intervals. Got there earlyish to find some of the boys in the nets - blimey they're taking this seriously! Good to see. And especially nice to see Brown there - took the week off from Sunday to Friday for his holiday so wouldn't have to miss the game - others please take note.

Started the day top of the league but, despite us beating them away at the beginning of the season (which I'd forgotten), I thought this'd be a hard game.

We won the toss & fielded first. Brown was hit for 4 off his first ball but took the wicket of their opener with his 2nd. Normal service had resumed.

Mr Lewis took longer to get going, in fact he didn't get going at all ending up with 9-1-40-0. He was replaced by the captain, Michael, who took a wicket in his first over and ended on 3-0-10-2. Asif took over from Michael, took a wicket with his first ball and started with a double wicket maiden. He ended on 5-1-13-2.

In the field Danny played a blinder for once with 3 catches and a stumping (and just the 2 byes). Other catches went to Tanvir, Scott & Joe and a great caught & bowled from Brown.

Hadleigh & Thundersley were all out for 100, not a good score but you can never tell how bad a score is until the second innings. Though that might be just me ;-)

After the usual lovely tea Mike (Blerkom) and Kiran took their places at the wicket. Or should that be crease? Anyway, neither of them stayed long enough to rack up much of a score being out for 8 and 7 respectively. Mike to a LBW decision - cheers Cyril - though Kiran was caught fair & square.

Scott came in and despite a nervous start played some good shots to score 33 and take us to 9 off the target along with Tanvir who top scored with 43. Joe came in for Scott and was just settling in when Tanvir was out leaving us needing 4 to win which Danny got with his first ball. All over by 4.45.

All I need now is for someone to explain partnerships to me - because the ones in my book don't add up and I can't figure out why.
